Widow's Bane was the most unique and fun band playing at Fortoberfest in Old Town Fort Collins. Full costume, makeup and stories add to their music. The lead singer, Mortimer Leech, explained that their band members all died at the hand of their lovers and forced to sing and play for 300 years on the schooner called the Widow's Bane. Their noon time show was a bit earlier than they usually play, but they had been assured that the Fortoberfest crowd would be drunk by 11am so they should be just fine. Their music style has been described as revival, vaudeville, gothic rock, sea shanty, but they describe their style as "Zombie Death Polka". Band members: Mortimer Leech (lead singer and guitar), Rutherford Belleview (accordian), Franklin McKane (drums and banjo), and a few others (upright bass, keyboard, trumpet) who I haven't identified yet. |
